Biography

Enes, son of Rasim and brother of Halim, was born on 20th May 1937 in Jezero. He attended primary school in Jajce, Banja Luka and Jezero, finished gymnasium in Jajce in 1956 and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo in 1962. He completed his specialization in general medicine at the University of Zagreb in 1971 and earned his master’s degree in 1980 with a thesis on the impact of air pollution on the health of Jajce’s residents.

He spent his entire working life as a physician in Jajce — serving as head of the General Medicine Service and director of the Jajce Medical Center (1972–1976) — apart from the refugee years from 1992 to 1996 spent in the village of Mehurić near Travnik. He was a prominent environmental activist and founder of the ecological movement in Jajce, as well as founder of the Jajce Academic Club. He wrote the book “Moje Jezero” (“My Jezero”) and, like his father Rasim, carefully recorded and preserved the family history.

He was married to Džemila, with whom he had two children: Nihad, a physician, and Sajma, a pharmacist. He died on 2nd February 2012 in the hospital in Jajce and was buried in his native Jezero.
