Hanumica Ribić

Hanumica was one of the four daughters of Salih-beg Ganibegović of Vražić, and the wife of Akif »Kifo« Ribić. She lived a long time after her husband’s death — fully 39 years — and died in 1906.

Her grandson Rasim remembered her; he was six when she died. She told him her version of the arrest of her father-in-law, the kadi of Jezero, by Omer-pasha Latas: as the 200 strokes began, Avdikadija bravely shouted, »Strike, little Omer, damn your mother!«

Her three sisters married into the Jašarević, Čerkez and Ribić families, so through those lines we are related to the Čerkez and other Jezero families.
